This question was the main starting point for the 13 people who applied for the Brainstorm contest. The problem and a potential solution were also identified in the submitted application form. Most ideas were submitted by one single person. Four ideas were received from NGOs. The next step is to recruit more people next to each idea, as only those ideas that will be joined by a group of at least 5-7 people will be included in the finals on April 1st.

The application is open to anyone who likes any of the bellow ideas and thinks they would love to join in developing it. However, the number of places is limited. So far, 22 people have submitted ideas. We can accept applications from another 25-30 people.

If you’d like to join this creative project, please send us an e-mail to szka@szka.org by March 10th with your contact info and occupation, and the project you would like to support.

Problem: There is no such place where mum and dad can have a coffee in the morning in a pleasant environment, where parents can relax in the afternoon after a busy day at work, and can leave their kids behind while they go shopping or do some chores.
Solution: the Family Circle would be a unique service system that can function as a community space for the families of Odorheiu Secuiesc, building a bridge between generations. A family-friendly, childproof and environment friendly place.

8.

Problem: Lack of family hikes.
Suggested solution: organise kid friendly hikes for parents with children.

9.

Problem: The lack of an outdoor community space where families and groups of friends can have some fun.
Suggested solution: create a place where people can have a picnic, a bbq, build a mini campfire, socialize. It would be a green, family-friendly area.

10.

Problem: The often undersized infrastructure and cramped socialist living area can cause high level of air pollution even in industrially poor cities. What we breathe in often determines not only our health, but also our well-being and overall performance.
One of the major problems of Odorheiu Secuiesc is its infrastructure, and as a result, the city’s residents face a significant (intermittent) pollution problem.
The first step in the solution is awareness raising, which is about proving the problem, and this requires data, which is helped by the creation of an air quality measurement system, where the results are available to the population by downloading an app.

11.

Problem: According to several surveys, there are many children with special needs in the educational institutions of Odorheiu Secuiesc, and our experience shows that this is a big challenge for teachers. They have neither the capacity nor the tools to deal with children with special educational needs. They don’t know who to turn to for help, so they either dismiss the child or don’t deal with them at all.
Suggested solution: awareness-raising campaigns, workshops and collaboration could go a long way to mitigate the problem.

12.

Problem: In Odorheiu Secuiesc, there is no such a community place where parents/grandparents/caregivers with kids can have a coffee, have a small talk with friends in a cozy environment.
Proposed solution: to transform one of the free rooms of the Odorheiu Secuiesc City Library into a multifunctional community space that would provide the opportunity for such activities during the library’s opening hours.

13.

Problem: The Dr. Imre Palló High School does not have a stable and adequate creative shop.
Solution: Create a creative space that acts as a workshop and key house for a young artist.
