Odorheiu Secuiesc Community Foundation is one of the ten organizations in the world, the program which is supported by Global Fund for Community Foundations. Our initiative to combine local philanthropy and environmental protection was considered valuable.
On November 24 to 26 meeting held in Nepal where GFCF met with the supported organizations – Costa Rica, South Africa, Mexico, Russia, India, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Turkey, China, Nepal – and other international guests. Although participants were from different parts of the world, live and work in different social and economic conditions, all share the same enthusiasm and are dedicated people. During the workshops we clarified how essential is the link between the community foundations’ work and the environment, we live and work in this environment. Our work likely or unlikely affect our environment. Projects and initiatives we support, their implementation has an impact on the environment. It is very important to inform better the communities and people, that they should be aware that every day they can do much to reduce environmental pollution.
After this meeting I realized two important lessons for us:
- for us here in Odorhei region is a privilege environment in which we live, but it’s also a responsibility to take care of this environment.
- there is neccesary to continue our initiative for environmental protection.
