The Odorheiu Secuiesc Community Foundation presented and gave a new fundraising method and tool in the NGO’s hand two weeks ago: the Give-Get-Do website for online donation.
This site helps the NGOs to realize their ideas. The Community Foundation encourages the project initiators by offering a matching for the first three projects which raise successfully the target amount.
There are already many project ideas on the site already. Between these there is the Szent Gellert Foundation’s project idea too. Their goal is to create a handicraft workshop for children with disabilities by reestablishing a storage closet. They raised in one week through the site the needed amount: 600 euro!
In our region the online fundraising is in experimental phase. To simplify using this method we need to base on experiences. That’s why we asked Kinga Ilyes, the director of Szent Gellert Foundation to share with us their experiences: „We promoted our project on Facebook and in our interpersonal contacts. The Give-Get-Do is a new, fresh and inspiring fundraising tool with advantages and disadvantages too. The advantage is that it’s more simple that a project application. The disadvantage is in the bank transfer and euro transfer. Many donors had no bank card. They raised the donations in cash and transferred it from one bank account. The changing rate from euro to RON should also provide some loss. She also mentioned: „The matching is very motivating for NGOs and we are proud we should use this opportunity.” They plan to implement their project in October.
